GOLD CIRCLE ENTERTAINMENT NAMES DAN DAVIS VP OF WEST COAST OPERATIONS, STEVE BARRI DIRECTOR OF A&R

OMAHA, NEBRASKA - Michael Delich, President of Gold Circle Entertainment, Inc., has announced the appointment of Dan Davis to the position of Vice President overseeing West Coast Operations and Steve Barri to the position of Director of A&R for the company.

"With Dan and Steve, we have added a wealth of experience and success in the music business to the Gold Circle family," says Delich. "In Dan, we have a seasoned executive who has managed nearly every aspect of business within a record company—including distribution. And, with Steve, we have a proven hitmaker—as both a songwriter, producer and A&R executive. We're fortunate to bring this kind of management strength and creative talent to the company."

Davis enjoyed a 24-year career at Capitol Records and CEMA Distribution. He worked his way up from liner notes copywriter to a variety of Vice Presidential assignments including Creative Services, Video Distribution and Third Party Distribution. In addition, Davis served as Executive Vice President for NARM and VSDA, the major trade associations for recording merchandisers and video software dealers. In 1989, Davis became the Western Region Manager for American Gramaphone, where he handled all sales and marketing of the company's new releases and catalog—and also met Mike Delich. That was followed by a two-year stint as Vice President of Marketing and Distribution for JVC Music, Inc., before he joined Gold Circle. In his current position, Davis will oversee the build-out of the company's facility in Santa Monica, California, which will include offices for the record company and motion picture soundtrack production company, as well as a complete recording studio.

Barri is responsible for writing some of the most recognizable songs in rock and pop, including Barry McGuire's "Eve of Destruction," and Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man." First hired by Lou Adler and brought over to Dunhill Records in the early 1960s, he was promoted to the label's Vice President of A&R at age 22. He signed many successful acts for the company, including Steppenwolf, Three Dog Night, Steely Dan, Smith, Jim Croce, The James Gang (with Joe Walsh), Jimmy Buffett, The Grass Roots, Rufus (featuring Chaka Khan), Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, Cashman & West and others. In addition, he also wrote many of these groups' hits, as well as hits for Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods, Tommy Roe, Mama Cass Elliott, The Four Tops, The Turtles, Herman's Hermits, Bobby "Blue" Bland, B.B. King and many others. In 1976, Barri joined Warner Brothers Records, as part of the A&R department, where he participated in the signing of such acts as Prince, Christopher Cross, Van Halen, Ricki Lee Jones and Dire Straits were signed. He also produced several gold albums and #1 singles, including hit songs for television and film. In 1982, Barri joined Motown Records, where he created the acclaimed Greatest Hits and Command Performance series from the label's extensive catalog. Following a stint with Left Bank Management, Barri joined JVC Records to head their A&R department, where such acts as Paul Hardcastle and Chieli Minucci were developed. From there, he joined Gold Circle.
